The Year Ahead for Perception
As the new year approaches, we’ve spent some time reflecting on our business and re-evaluating the core services that Perception has to offer. It’s always a good idea for any business to take a critical look at what they’re doing periodically, otherwise there is a tendency to get into a routine, which can potentially evolve into a rut, and nobody likes to be in a rut. Our findings were nothing too astounding. In fact we even touched on some of the natural evolutions taking place at Perception in a blog post last fall. However, we thought it would be beneficial to re-visit and expand on those changes in order to give clients a better idea of the type of business they can look forward to working with in the years to come.
Integrated Marketing
At Perception, we believe that good marketing is more than just putting forth a “pretty face” to attract attention. Good marketing involves design, development, and content, and it requires that all of these parts work together as a well-oiled machine. For that reason, it’s important that you as the client place your trust in Perception to handle all three components of your marketing campaign, not just the face of it. Which leads me to my next point…
The Importance of the Written Word
Never underestimate the importance of the content you place on your website, blog, or print materials. I’ve touched on this in depth in my Content 101 Series, but I’d like to explain further why content is so important. Let me paint you a picture; have you ever read a website that just didn’t sound right? Like maybe they handed off the task of writing the content to their kid in exchange for some extra allowance? What about your own web site? I’m sure it’s grammatically sound and everything flows nicely, but is it generating the kind of organic traffic you’d like to see? Is it bringing in the number of sales leads you’re shooting for? Believe it or not, the performance of your website is a function of the quality of your content.
As your chosen marketing agency, we want to be able to take pride in the entire finished product we provide to you. That’s why, going forward, you might notice stronger push-back from us when you tell us, “I’ll pass on the copywriting services, I think I can handle that part on my own.” It’s not that we’re trying to up-sell a larger package, we truly care about the success of your marketing materials. If you’re going to spend the money on a great website or professional print materials, take the extra step to make sure that your copy matches in quality.
Applications Are In
As I mentioned back in August, Perception is starting to focus more on web and mobile applications, in addition to design and front end development services. We have had the pleasure of working with some great clients on some large web applications to automate some of their processes that were previously performed on the desktop, and move them into online applications so people can access them anytime, anywhere. We’ve also had the opportunity to build some mobile applications for iOS and Android devices.
Change is good, especially when it involves growth and improvements in the way things are done. It’s important to note that we’re not changing any of our fundamental values as a company, simply expanding into new territories for the benefit of our clients. We look forward to hearing your feedback, so please feel free to voice any questions you may have.
Happy New Year!
