Project Analysis: OTech Group Website Design

Recently we had the privilege of creating a new website for OTech Group, a company that sells medical check-in kiosks. Otech Group LLC came to Perception with the need for a fresh web presence. With an aging site that was difficult to update, they needed something clean and intuitive on both the front and back end. Developed using the WordPress CMS, Otech’s new site positions them as a leader in the healthcare industry by placing their patient check-in kiosk front and center on each and every page of the site.

Clean, Professional Style

When you think “hospital” or “doctor’s office” don’t you imagine a clean, steril facility, highly organized with minimal clutter? It was important to bring these characteristics out in the design of OTech’s website so that clients could easily envision Otech’s kiosks occupying the lobby of their facility. You’ll notice clean lines and cool colors were used to make the design of this site as clean and simple as possible.

A Solid Base

We developed a WordPress base theme (https://github NULL.com/ccschmitz/wp-base-theme) right before starting this project, so that was used as the foundation for the code. The first version is almost complete, and combines the following technologies:

• The Theme Options Framework (http://wptheming NULL.com/options-framework-theme/) from WP Theming

Home Page Slider

Sliders are great for featuring several different groups of information in an impressive way. The slider on OTech’s home page highlights the benefits of their product, contains a promotional video, and addresses some common questions about their product. For this particular slider, we used the AnythingSlider (http://css-tricks NULL.com/anythingslider-jquery-plugin/) because of its video support. The WordPress plugin wasn’t updated to work with the latest version of WordPress, so we included the source and made a custom post type to manage the slides.

Blog

OTech Group is a developing company with lots of exciting news to share with current and potential clients. Blogging is a great way to easily update the content on a website, and WordPress is the best CMS to do just that.

Email Newsletter Subscription

OTech Group does a great job staying in touch with clients in an email newsletter. Since people have to opt-in to receive the newsletter, it was imperative to have a place for people to subscribe to their newsletter somewhere on the website. We made sure to place the subscription and appropriate call to action in a prominent space in the blog.

Overall we were able to give OTech Group a custom site with a design to match their image, and features to meet the needs of the company. We are grateful any time we have the opportunity to work with a client savvy enough to recognize the need for an update and one that places their trust in Perception to deliver it.
